Carla’s Must-Haves For Baby

It’s one of the most important shopping lists EVER.

For first time moms, it’s a sea of “must-haves” and too many options. The key is to find what works for you and baby. Our advice, choose things that borrow from your personal style, and will help you get through your everyday. Carla Pires Correia, an expectant mom, offers up her must-have baby short list:

1) My Baby Book: A Keepsake Journal for Baby’s First Year:  I currently have the ‘My Belly Book’ for my pregnancy and love it!  These books are a great way to document this wonderful time in our lives.  I am not good at journaling, so I love that this book asks questions and keeps it simple.

2) PoBa Bibdana: We recently met up with some friends who swear by these!  They have a little drooler on their hands and these are the only bibs that keep him dry.  Bonus, they are such a cute accessory.  I like that our baby will be dry and stylish.

3) Sophie Giraffe: I love this little toy which is also a teether that squeaks and is nice and soft. I also love that it’s a classic that looks the exact same way as when it first came out 50 years ago.  And her name is Sophie, so cute!

4) Keekaroo Wooden High Chair: We wanted just a simple, wooden high chair.  This is a modern take on an old classic and it matches our table and chairs.  I can’t wait to share meals with our little pumpkin, I love feeding babies!

5) Britax B-Agile Travel System: I love this stroller and car seat combo.  It’s light weight and can be opened and closed with one hand.  It seems like it will be easy to handle and I like that I can just pop the car seat right into the stroller and go.

6) Boon Grass Drying Rack: We love bright colors and this fits in perfectly with our house.  It looks cool and we can use it to dry the baby’s bottles.  It’s also easy to keep clean which is essential.

Carla and Seth are expecting their first baby in November.

Modern Vintage Design Studio Giveaway

One of the most exciting projects that come along with pregnancy is without a doubt, the nursery. Once you have a design direction, you spend all your free time playing with color, texture, and details, details, details.

Speaking of… one way to complete the space, and make the nursery truly unique to your little bundle is to create a customized art piece. Our suggestion: put away the paint and stencils, and leave this one to the professionals.

Cara Dulmaine, part-owner of Modern Vintage Design Studio {who was recently featured as a Modern Mom} specializes in graphic and textile design… and customized prints! We’re thrilled to partner up with her on a customized art giveaway.

You’ll get to work with Cara directly to design a custom art piece for your nursery. To enter to win a personalized art canvas from Modern Vintage Design Studio, read below.

A few Facebook moments later, we connected!

Heather’s Must-Haves {for baby}

Upper West Side Modern Mom {to be}, Heather Bessinger gives MoPa her “Top Registry Picks.” We love her effortless collection that easily sums up playful, yet sophisticated design.

Aden + Anais “bamboo muslin collection”: These swaddles work overtime. Use them for swaddling, burp cloths, sun shields, nursing scarf, etc. They are small and don’t take up too much space in a bag or a drawer (unlike many other baby blankets that seem to pile up). Plus, their designs are beautiful!

Carousel Designs: I was not really feeling all the available crib bedding, and the cute stuff was really expensive. I love this website because you can customize bedding. Also, the best part about this site is that it sells the exact same fabric it uses to make the bedding. Therefore, if you are super crafty you can just order the fabric and make it yourself (this is how I made the bed skirt).

Macrolite Toro Stroller: Although I haven’t put this stroller to use, I am obsessed with the practicality of it. The small wheels are wider in the front than the large rubber wheels in the back. This design feature allows for the stroller to stand on its own when collapsed. The stroller also does not take up a lot of space and grows with the baby.

Boon Naked Collapsible Baby Bathtub: I love this for the obvious reasons. It hangs up nicely in the bathroom and is pleasing on the eye.

3 Sprouts Kangaroo Storage Box: These boxes come in different colors and with different animals. Storage is really important in small spaces and with these boxes everything has its place without looking cluttered. Using multiple boxes ups the design factor in a nursery.

Mommy Bonus!

MARC by Marc Jacobs Pretty Eliza Baby Bag, Gray: I love a great bag and this bag is perfect. It is washable, but also a classic and easy to use. I love style and fashion and believe that just because you are a Mommy does not mean you need to compromise your person style. This bag helps me hang onto my identity as a fashionista!
