Charlie’s 3!

Charlie’s 3!

This past weekend we celebrated Charlie’s 3rd birthday with family & friends.

For us, birthday parties are a big deal, and a great way to get creative with our kids. We’re also fans of Tattly and wanted to use the design inspired tattoos as a loose theme for Charlie’s party.  The next step? Build a Tattly tattoo booth!

Party Tip: We have a carriage house brimming with cardboard boxes and wood signage {thanks to MoPa events} and so this was the perfect chance to repurpose some of these things.

From the cardboard boxes, I crafted a marquee signage with lights, and we repurposed an old plywood MoPa sign for the booth. These two elements made great visual impact for short money.

One of the things I liked most is that the marquee sign and booth were not perfect in anyway – they had a homemade quality to them which is just what you want for a kids party.

Let’s talk birthday cake! I always turn to Meredith from Artisan Bake Shop. She’s an amazing baker, and created the perfect centerpiece for our celebrations.

Charlie’s cake design was simple – a two-tier buttercream with a red and white typography design. Sweet perfection!

The Littles went home with party packed caramel corn, wooden ball paddles, and trendy coin purses {for the girls}.

Look out for a marquee letter DIY tutorial coming soon to the blog, and in the meantime, tell us about your homemade parties…
