Toddler Spills are So Yesterday.
There’s always a new container or sip cup entering the arena and it comes with good reason: toddlers just learning how to navigate life, well they usually comes with a reasonable amount of spills. I know you know this already. With SipSnap, your favorite restaurant spot and area rug will thank you greatly, because it will put an end to messy spills and plastic parts galore – once and for all. Michelle and Sativa share with us their inspiration for the SipSnap awesome-ness.
Tell us more about SipSnap? SipSnap is the first ever one-size-fits all drinking lid? It’s made from food safe silicone, which is BPA and Phthalate free, and dishwasher safe – and there’s two versions! The SipSnap TOT has a chew resistant spout for toddlers to drink from and makes every cup in your life a potential sippy cup (yay!). And the SipSnap KID is a universal lid that can fit any size straw for the bigger kids (it’s also great for adults!).
SipSnap is the perfect meal time companion to prevent spills at home, restaurants, or anywhere really. SipSnap has a roll stop bumper so if your child knocks a cup over, not only does it prevent spills, but it also stops the cup from rolling away. And with SipSnap you can also control the material your child drinks from. It’s compact to save valuable cupboard space and fits in the palm of your hand so it’s easy to take on the go.
When did you know that SipSnap was the project? We were working together on a different project and reviewing concept sketches in our sketchpads. Michelle noticed a doodle in the corner and said “hey, what’s that?” We started talking about the idea and it immediately flourished into a vision for a great line of products. We got so excited about it, we missed dinner, and i’m not even sure we ever got back to that other project we were working on.
Proudest moment so far? “When my kids begged me to bring the prototypes back home so they could keep using them.” – Michelle
Biggest challenges so far? Technical design. Making the forms and materials all work cohesively to be the perfect fit on every cup.
How has this processed changed your family? “I look forward to being able to relax and enjoy going to restaurants with my kids rather than holding a constant panther pose ready to pounce on any tipping glass.” – Michelle
“I am excited to be able to use our own non-plastic cups with our kid. I never liked the idea of having to buy a cabinet full of plastic kid cups.” – Sativa
Where do you see SipSnap in five years? We really hope that it will be widely available so that parents have more flexibility to make the choices that are right for them and their children, and there’s less spills everywhere!
If you had to pick one beverage, what would be in your SipSnap Cup? “Water, it’s perfect.” – Michelle, “Iced mint tea, no sugar please!” – Sativa
Three things in your handbag right now? SipSnap, kids drawings and my wallet.
