NYC Trends

New York is a very special place for me. Not only did I live and work there as a trend forecaster for years, but it’s where I became a mom. I adore the fact that Nate is an official “New Yorker,” and I always want to nourish that part of his history, which means we get to visit as much as possible… total bonus!

A big part of visiting NYC is people watching, or what I call “street scene reporting.” You’ll easily get a good taste of major trends that you can easily work into your wardrobe because New York is fashionable and on-trend but also functional.

Here’s a round-up of some on-trend cool-weather looks for your Little.

Leggings are everywhere. The key to this trend is layering for a complete look, and selecting a legging in a print. To complete the look, pair with a swing coat and trendy boot.

Color Blocking: When working with layers, it’s great to mix it up with contrasting colors and prints. Bring together bold colors and trendy colored footwear and the kids will own this trend.

Texture: Fall is all about texture & seasonal patterns. For us that might be tweeds and chunky knits. For littles, bring on pattern play with contrasting chevron, bright stripes and sequins {everywhere}.
