#shaketochange with BarreAmped

I’m totally BarreAmped. Are you?

Early January {amid all the New Year, New You typical workout stuff} I was thrilled to introduce BarreAmped to MoPa. One of our very own Modern Moms, Tara of Motion the Dance Studio, invited me to a attend class, because she truly believed that I and many other local MoPa’s would love the program she is SO passionate about.

So what’s my take on #shaketochange? It rocks.

Tara who is now a certified BarreAmped instructor turned me onto the #shaketochange philosophy. The thing I appreciate most is it’s not like anything I’ve done before. The method incorporates many techniques that champion women’s fitness today – Pilates, yoga, classical dance, and stretching – all done with a neutral spine. I really LOVE the concept of micro-movements; these tight but delicate moves offer a different approach. Rather than agressive, and robust, BarreAmped is designed around small, itzy bitzy moves that encourage focus and control in a big way {you also feel it in a big way the next day too}.

And the best part – it’s a program for any fitness level, which means it’s not overwhelming or intimidating. All you need to do is show up, and be open to shake {the shaking is when you know you are doing it correctly}. Pretty cool, right – yes!

Overall, the hour-long routine moves quick. There’s a great energy, and because Tara keeps the temp and music up, it’s a heightened sensory experience all around. To date, a great group of women have joined me at the BarreAmped sessions, and I’ve learned that a few have migrated to our class from a barre program they were traveling over an hour to get to – needless to say, we’re lucky Tara brought this program to our backyard. I’m thinking we’re pretty spoiled and I like it that way. Watch our for last BarreAmped post coming soon for an amazing giveaway allowing you to practive BarreAmped and me at Motion the Dance Studio.
